An old scrap of paper caught my eye the other day. It had been gathering dust all these years right in my storeroom corner. I had been looking for a few useful items.
I picked up the tattered greying paper up and was just about to toss it into my rubbish bin when some familiar names appeared.
There were 31 printed names under the heading Sekolah Rendah Sri Mawar Primary 4 class of 1992 ... Some harmlessly naughty and some well-behaved kids I had taught British, Australian and Malaysian English whose photos are still somewhere in my home. There were some studious ones as well, of course and there would be marvelous stories to narrate some other day ...
Here are the names of these memorable kids who would be 28--year old adults by now in alphabetical order ...
Aaron Sauu, Alfred Wong Vun Jun, Alicia Liew Yeung Ying, Andrea Huong Jia Mei, Brenda Sim Kim Ling, Cheam Ai Queen, Lau Tang Zoo Yik, Didi Bahdriyyah Bte Suhaili, Dinah Ting, Gary Shih, Jennifer Yong, Kristin Yang Fu Chun, Kiu Ngin Kar, Leong Wei Sin, Ling Lu Siong, Lydia Mattu, Norzalekha Bte Yazid, Noh You Ji, Ronnie Ling, Rose Hii Yun Hee, Simon Ha How Kiat, Simon Sim Cheng Yang, Ting Ka Ka, Ting Mong Ling, Wanda Tan Hui Ping, William Tan Hyan Tjen, Wong Kiong Hui, Yong Kai Siang, Yvonne Tan Hui Ling, Ryan Jolly and Shawn Tan.
Naturally, I would be curious as to what careers and lives they are leading these days ... May God keep them safe and grant them peaceful and happy lives.

Hello, Ngin Kar here. Drop by to say Hi. GBU.
Hello, Ngin Kar!
Good to hear from you. I recall sending you (a slightly plumb & cute kid in those days) home a few times somewhere in Pujut.
Hope all's well with you & your folk!
If you're not in the secret service, do tell us what you're up to these days!
Looks like you might have missed me by one year. I was outta there by 1991 I think. Not expelled, but going to Secondary. :)
You probably didn't teach my class but I'm almost positive I don't recall ever seeing you.
Hi Mr. Luke, I am Ai Queen...
How are you? By the way, dun la tell the whole world my age!
Hi, Ian! Sorry for not responding earlier ... Can you recall the old Rumah Dayak where some shophouses are today? That was the secondary school where I first started teaching with Sri Mawar. I don't think I ever taught your class though. BTW, how's the IT business doing these days?
Hi, Ai Queen! Your name sounds really familiar and I can vaguely remember a pleasant bespectacled studious girl ... How r u & what r u up to these days? Yes, I promise I won't mention your age! I believe there's a pic of all of you somewhere ... I'll try to dig that out!
