I will Burn My Barisan Life Membership Card

I don't know him personally. He was just someone in the opposition, someone called to the Malaysian Anti-corruption Commission to assist them in their investigation of allegations of misappropriation of state funds by state executives.

He went in good health and he ended up a dead broken man at the side of the MACC building.

The world and I know him now as a certain Teoh Beng Hock.

Images show not a tough hardened individual but a friendly, slim and slightly diminutive person.

One small Malaysian, a David without a sling vs. an ugly huge Goliath, a massive institution with powers to detain and God knows to torture, perhaps mentally - formed to supposedly fight corruption, but at the time of Teoh's death, appeared obscenely fixated in catching 'ikan kecil' - small fries who were in the opposition, opposing the government, who were alleged to have squirreled off a few thousand dollars.

Never mind that millions of dollars have appeared to be skimmed by others, likely politically prominent, in the other scandals involving military hardware, a port and a public servant's grand mansion, amongst others?

A Malaysian lost his life under mysterious circumstances: he was not a suspect yet interrogated for a prolonged 11-hour period from 5 pm till 3:45 am and the fact that he was to be married the next day to a career woman bearing their baby ...

Nothing short of a Royal Commission of Inquiry, and one with highly respected objective and fair-minded persons is called for. It must be thorough and leave no stones unturned in finding the truth of what actually transpired. Need we say we have to bear in mind, if the top man in police uniform in Malaysia Rahim Noor could turn into Mohd Ali in punching a hapless detainee, Anwar Ibrahim, could not another individual in uniform be equally sadistic and even more violent?

Failing that, in my book, I respect the government less and to me, the MACC is not worthy to be respected as a just body in the fight against crime.

I blog this in outrage, coming from a life member of the ruling National Front coalition, someone who will soon publicly burn the life membership card in disgust with the current state of political events.

Sarawak's Political Shock

Today in the state of Perak in West Malaysia, a high political drama is been played out. Will the national Barisan National Alliance (or shall we say UMNO) seize power by froggy means, considering two of the frogs have been charged by police for corruption and are due in court?

Whether the ruling party does succeed, and at this time of blogging, it appears it will...my mind drifts back to Sarawak's own political high drama way back in 1996.

That's right-thirteen years ago-how much younger we were then and even the present national news agency Bernama head, (Datuk) Azman Ujang was just an astute political correspondant for Bernama then.

It was the day Sarawak stood still when its second largest component partner, Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP) in the four-party state-remember this was 1996 then- was dealt a stunning blow and reeled from shock with both the defeat of its popular chairman, Wong Soon Kai and the breakthrough for the Democratic Action Party (DAP) in gaining a foothold in the state's legislative assembly.

Who says politics is ever boring or clean?

An Outraged Girl

The following angry retort excerpt was by a Malay girl who's presently studying in a mission school who was visibly upset with the outrageous insensitive remarks by two government Barisan Members of Parliament demanding the removal of Christian crosses in schools and the baseless accusation that the Roman Catholic Vatican controlled the mission schools in Malaysia.

To read more, go to "Dramatic Musings"

This is going to be a semi-political post that might or might not get me thrown into ISA but I am willing to take the risk because I am pissed off. Indeed, I am.

I have long given up in reading the newspapers and watching the news because in Malaysia, democracy is just a charade and the media is a political propaganda tool. There's nothing more to elaborate there. To keep myself updated what I do is I peruse through these political blogs and read about the news written by bloggers with credibility. Today I stumbled across this over at Malaysians says the darnest things! and it pissed the hell out of me.

Apparently in the Parliament, some exceedingly brilliant gentleman, the representative of Parit Sulong (where?) have nothing to do with his time and nothing to do in his community that he had to point out that mission schools in Malaysia, such as Convent, La Salle and Methodist have crosses and statues representing the Christian faith in them. These crosses and statues must be demolished.

Well no shit Sherlock.
Its called mission schools. Built by the British back when they invaded Malaya.

Also he pointed out that these schools have strong Christian influences and apparently sing "church songs" during school assembly.(FYI: Those are hymns, not songs). And shock and horror!!- apparently Malay-Muslim parents send their children to these school as well!! What is the world coming to?!!

Then his sidekick, an even more incredible genius of a man, the representative from Sri Gading (bitch, again - from where?) have to butt in and mentioned that apparently "a father have alerted him that these missionary schools are not close during Raya". Raya is Eid Mubarak; as in the main festival celebrated by Muslims. Bear in mind, Malaysia is an Islamic nation.

Not close during Raya? Right....

Ok listen up geniuses, I am a Malay woman. A Muslim-Malay woman and my parents sent me to be educated in SRK. Convent Klang and then, oh nooo they didn't stop there. They then sent me to my high school: SMK. Convent Klang. That's right bitch, I'm a Convent girl. A Muslim-Malay woman educated the Convent way.

When I went there, there was never a moment where we were made to sing...what did you called it again...right "church songs" during assembly. We did read prayers but it was the Islamic prayer that we read weekly at the assembly while the other students who weren't Muslims stood in silence of respect to it. Did they other students have parents alerting the Parliament members about how the have to stand in silence when the Muslims were saying their prayers? No. Perhaps its a little thing called religious sensitivity or maybe because they were shit scared of idiots like you who are in the Parliament talking about Islamic supremacy.

Also calling into the demolishing of the crosses and Christianity artifacts. Where I went to school, we no longer have a church in it. The church have been converted into the hall and where the altar where the people used to pray, a stage have built over it. There were no crosses at all though on the walls where they used to hang, one can see the outline of Jesus Christ. When the school was repainted, all that gone missing. So what is there to demolish? We do have a giant cross in front of the school but it never bothered us. It is a part of the British/Malaya heritage, it is a part of Malaysian history. Demolish that? Demolish a part of our country's history just because you are an uneducated prick that have no religious tolerance?

F**k you.

You are not above history.

And then about the 'Raya' comment....Dude, that shit is not just stupid. It is BEYOND stupid, I don't even have a word to comment on that because seriously, you have created a whole new level of stupidity here. What kind of BS is that, that the school is not closed during Raya? You think that there would be no heavy media coverage of that if that ever happened? Stop talking mindless shit. It is embarrassing. If anything at all, Convent gave more holidays. We get day off during Good Friday while the other kids go to their non-mission school. You don't hear no one complaining because who would say no to a day off?

Oh look ma! Christian architecture! Tear down the school now!

These mission schools, Convent, La Salle and so on and so forth are not just schools. They are historical landmarks that have been around before Malaysia achieved her independence, back when she was Malaya instead of Malaysia. The fact that they have Christian identity is undeniable because the title itself is 'mission schools'. Demolishing them or trying to hide their identity is stupid because the very act itself is telling us to turn our back on history. The fact that so-called Parliament members have to make up stories to make these schools as if it is out there to convert students are false and unfounded. Further more it is also offensive and hurtful for those who have been in those walls and know such accusations are false.

The Constantly Dramatic One is all about school pride after all.

Religion is a set of beliefs. You choose what to believe. Just because you think your religion is better than other peoples' does not give you the right to condemn and push your religion onto them.

Last time I checked, we promote this country to the outside world as a country where people of different races live harmoniously and without conflict. Last time I checked, we are a country that is proud of our religious diversity and sensitivity. Last time I checked, this country wasn't run by a bunch of idiots with the Taliban-mentality.

But we all know that's all bullshit right?

Unkindest Speech Award

The Most Unkindest Speech Award of all time must surely go to Member of Parliament, Datuk Badruddin Amiruldin, the Barisan National Representative of Jerai for claiming God had a punishing hand in a disabled person's condition, in a recent parliamentary sitting debate in Malaysia to a wheelchair bound highly respected Opposition member of parliament, Democratic Action Party's Karpal Singh.

For the unjustified uncalled for cheap shots he made at Karpal, here are some citations:

This is an account from Jeff Ooi of Screenshots:
Earlier, touching on the subject of manners, Karpal irked Datuk Badruddin Amiruldin (BN-Jerai) when he remarked that there was little hope of seeing courtesy and good manners in the house. "The Jerai MP is notorious for using foul language. The Kinabatangan member (Datuk Bung Moktar Radin) is no better," he said, referring to a foul word uttered by Badruddin during a sitting. An angry Badruddin shouted back at Karpal. You are no better. Calling us (BN MPs) animals… you insult people. Now you are sitting in a wheel chair. God has punished you.

This is the citation from Malaysiakini:
On Monday, during the Supply Bill 2008 debate, Karpal said many MPs were not well behaved in Parliament and that would be a problem if they were not penalised for their unruly behaviour.

Citing examples, he referred to Bung Mokhtar Radin (BN-Kinabatangan) who uttered the word bocor to Fong and Badruddin Amiruldin (BN-Jerai), who used a foul word in a sitting not so long ago.

An angry Badruddin then rose and said that Karpal has also uttered words like "animal", "cow" and "stupid" in the Dewan Rakyat.

"I used the foul word because I was defending my race and country. You were attacking my race and that's why God has taught you a good lesson by putting you in a wheelchair," said Badruddin.

"How many times have you been suspended? How many times were you told to leave the Dewan? I haven't been suspended even for once and I was never told to leave," he said.

"You are a veteran politician who has got no discipline. Even now, when you're dependent on a wheelchair, you're talking so much."

Tan Sri Datuk Dr. Wong Soon Kai's Sensational Letter

CLICK ONCE OVER IT TO ENLARGE FOR CLEAR READING!

1987... THE YEAR OF THE MING COURT AFFAIR...What a hell of an exciting year in politics for Sarawak, a partner in the confederation of Malaysia (together with Sabah
)!

A former Chief Minister and governor of Sarawak, Tun Abdul Rahman Yakub attempted a dramatic Shakespearan come back by calling his loyalist politicians to Malaysia's federal capital, Kuala Lumpur for a meeting in a high class hotel called The Ming Court. Any significance in choosing the location of Ming Court? Have a look at Wikipedia here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ming_dynasty and be the judge). His nephew, his anointed
successor, Tan Sri Datuk Taib Mahmud dug in and steadfastly stood his ground and fought hard. Taib won!

Twenty-seven Sarawak state assemblymen met in Kuala Lumpur. The dramatis personae: According to the New Straits Times dated 11/3/1987 eight of them were from PBDS, Datuk Daniel Tajem (Lingga), Mr. Gramong Juna (Machan), Dr. James Masing (Balleh), Datuk Edmind Langgu anak Sagga (Krian), Mr. Joseph Kudi (Ngemah), Dr. Jawie Masing (Pakan), Haji Bolhassan Kambar (Tatau) and Mr. Mikai anak Mandau (Batang Ai); eight from PBB, Datuk Noor Tahir (Lawas), Datuk Hafsah Harun (Petra Jaya), Datuk Tajang Laing (Belaga), Haji Zainuddin Satem (Saribas), Encik Mohamed Hilary Tawan (Gedong), Wan Madzihi Mahzar (Oya), Datuk Wan Yusof Tun Tuanku Haji Bujang (Kalaka) and Wan Abdul Wahab Wan Sanusi (Semera); five from SNAP, Datuk Edward Jeli (Marudi), Mr. Michael Ben (Tebakang), Mr. Nueng anak Kudi (Pelagus), Mr. Geman anak Itam (Meluan) and Mr. Joseph Balan Seling (Telang Gusang); four from SUPP, Mr. Hollis Tini (Sri Aman), Mr. David Tiong Chiong Chu (Igan), Mr. Wilfred Kiroh anak Jeram (Dudong) and Mr. Sim Choo Nam (Engkilili) and three were independents, Mr. Wilfred Nissom (Bengoh), Wan Habib Syed Mahmud (Balingian) and Haji Saadi Haji Olia (Kuala Rejang).

In the ensuing war (or was it merely a battle?) a lot of dirty logging polluted water under our many bridges was exposed to the hungry open-fish mouth public which was fed eye-bulging, eye-opening savory delicious morsels of enlightening food through the news media both locally and abroad ...

Billions of ringgit(dollars) worth of timber wealth - contracts that were shamelessly given to numerous cronies were exposed. Other scandalous shenanigans were the conversion to Islam by enticement with lucrative timber contracts; gifts of blue ICs (In those days this meant proof of Malaysian citizenship) to non-Malaysians and the involvement of the top state leadership in throwing political opponents into prison and so on. (Just read the letter, found in the Borneo Post dated 15/4/1986! This open letter was written in response to an earlier fascinating one by Yakub in the Sarawak Tribune dated 11/4/1987).

Of course, some of us Sarawakians knew a lot of these outrageous shenanigans were happening and our well-respected honest Minister of Works and Infrastructure (Tan Sri) Datuk Wong Soon Kai's letter only served to confirm what we knew all along. Wong Soon Kai was the Secretary-general of SUPP (Sarawak United People's Party, a component party of the state and federal
National Front (known officially as the Barisan National, headed by Mahathir Mohamad). Formerly, Yakub's man, he was loyally alligned to Taib Mahmud.

Personally, Wong Soon Kai's expo`se made me recall the story of the outspoken boy who said, "... but he wears NO clothes!" when he saw the naked vain pompous powerful emperor riding by on his horse... and all the by-standers of course knew he was in the nude but dared not say a word...

Go on! Grab and read the famous book THE EMPEROR WHO WORE NO CLOTHES ...
(Hmmmnnnn THE EMPRESS WHO WORE NO CLOTHES will surely attract more readers of us males of the human species, I'm sure).
