This friendly gentleman, Bruno Manser is a Swiss national. He is a compassionate environmentalist who spends much time deep in the thick rainforest with the most nomadic tribe in Borneo, the gentle, humble peace-loving Penans, studying and recording their culture. He is still listed as missing, presumably dead by unknown causes. On the left is a pic in
The Borneo Post dated March 30th, 1999, of him being arrested by immigration Officers after he had daringly flown a motorised paraglider over Kuching, Sarawak's state capital on March 29th, 1999, carrying with him a woolen sheep instead of a live sheep to give as a peace offering to Sarawak's Chief Minister. It is believed he took off from a muslim cemetery.
