Mysterious Sky Images 2010

Unexplainable images found amongst my camera pix files after I had snapped several pics one stormy late afternoon recently... They had not been seen when I took them so I was stunned to see them appear... An enlarged close-up view is on the left. Please click to enlarge further.

Part 1: Outer Space Intelligent Life

Is there intelligent life out there?

As an avid reader of comics, articles and novels that touch on this topic with their resounding affirmation, I have decided to share in my blog today and in the days ahead, some arguments by several great 20th century writers who also firmly believe there is intelligent life in Outer Space.

I've seen some pretty unusual phenomena myself in the past making me cast doubts on the singularity of our existence on Earth.

My theory and it's possible some others' as well, is that the strange or mysterious sightings that we make is the evidence that time-travel is presently on-going but a universal law forbids the tampering of our economic and socio-political history.

I have decided to start with the late famous brilliant best-seller author of Chariots of the Gods, Erich Von Danken's argument.

Is it conceivable that we world citizens of the twentieth century are not the only living beings of our kind in the cosmos? Because there is no homunculus from another star on display in a museum for us to visit, the answer 'Our earth is the only star with human beings' still seems to be legitimate and convincing. But the forest of question marks grows as soon as we make a careful study of the fact resulting from the latest discoveries and research work.

On a clear night the naked eye can see about 4,500 stars, so the astronomers say. The telescope of even a small observatory makes nearly two million stars visible and a modern reflecting telescope brings the light from thousands of millions more to the viewer-specks of light in the Milky Way. But in the colossal dimensions of the cosmos our Stellar System is only a tiny part of an incomparably larger Stellar System-of a cluster of Milky Ways, one might say, containing some twenty galaxies within a radius of 1 1/2
million light years (1 light year= the distance travelled by light in a year, i.e. 186,000 x 60 x 60 x 24 x 365 miles). And even this vast number of stars is small in comparison with the many thousands of spiral Nebulae disclosed by the electronic telescope. Disclosed up to the present day, I should emphasise, for research of this kind is only just beginning.

The astronomer Harlow Shapley estimates that there are some 10(20) stars within the range of our telescopes. When Shapley associates a planetary system with only one in a thousand stars, we may assume that it is a very cautious estimate. If we continue to speculate on the basis of this estimate and suspect the necessary conditions for life on only one star in a thousand, still calculation still gives a figure of 10(14). Shapley asks: how many stars in this 'astronomical' figure have an atmosphere suitable for life? One in a thousand? That would still leave the incredible figure of 10 11 stars with the prerequisites for life. Even if we assume that every one thousandth planet out of this figure has produced life, there are still 100 million planets on which we can speculate life exists. This calculation is based on telescopes using the techniques available today but we must not forget that these are constantly being improved.

Unsolved Mystery 7: Air Tragedy

The garlands wither on your brow,
Then boast no more your mighty deeds,
Upon death's purple altar now,
See where the victor-victim bleeds,
Your hand must come,
To the cold tomb,
Only the actions of the just
Smell sweet and blossom in their dust.
-James Shirley, 1596-1666

July 12, 2004! Remember that day of infamy? In one aircraft crash, Sarawak lost some of its brightest stars with promising futures... starting with one of the most humble cabinet ministers around, Dr. Judson Tagal; others were Marcus Raja, Roger Wong, Jason Eng, Lawrence Th'ng, Ling Kian Ho and the ill-fated helicopter's pilot, Captain Samsuddin. It took 17 days before the plane was eventually found in the Baram region.

I remember well two of these memorable persons: Dr. Judson
Tagal and Marcus Raja.

I first met Judson at the airport in the late 1980s on a visit to Miri while having my Canadian semester break.

I saw this man whom I recognised as his brother,
Mutang Tagal whom I knew very well. I hollered "How are you doing, Mutang?"

The grinning friendly man replied, "Fine!"

Then I said, "Oh man, you look younger these days!" and I went on about the old days when we met in prayer meetings and so on.

Bemused and beaming rather widely from ear to ear, he finally revealed he was
Mutang's brother! Aware of my embarrassment, he assured me, I wasn't the only person to have mistaken him for his brother.

Well, we did get to chat about many things for sometime while he was waiting for his flight to take off.

That was the one occasion I could recall well.

Marcus
Raja was another funny guy whom I knew better as we were part of a team in a business course that was sponsored by a German philanthropist. This is Marcus' name on the registration list (Click pic to enlarge it) which had all the names of participants in it. He also gave me his business card.

Marcus was so humorous and cracked many jokes making our time indeed together an unforgettable experience. We knew a lot about each other as it was all part of the moderator's aim to build up our team spirit and do some networking.

The moderator, an elderly huge Indian psychologist from West Malaysia was a humorous genius who knew how to set the right tone and got us all ticking! Everyone doubled up in laughter when he introduced himself thus: "I'm a psychologist from Seremban. Now not many people here will know about this small town. Well, I know my town name is famous in a nice place called "Seremban Lodging Hotel"! (Ha! Allegedly, an infamous place for the lusty adventurous visitors in those days!)

Humor aside, questions remain today about the tragedy... such as the cause and the outcome of the investigation into the crash...Here is an abstract of a provocative letter to the New Straits Times' editor dated 3rd August, 2004 which poses some intriguing queries...

By an unusual coincidence, while the search for the seven were ongoing, Judson's faithful driver unexpectedly died in an accident near his home as reported in the Sarawak Tribune dated 28th July, 2004.

Then the Deputy Chief Minister of Sarawak and the person in charge of the search operation, announced in the State Assembly, as reported in the Borneo Post dated 8th December, 2004, the final report of the crash would be out soon ... Till today, we await the report...Is this a mystery or what???

Here then are more pic recollections, abstracts from the Borneo Post, of those tragically sad days for Sarawakians and the widowed spouses and families of those Sarawak heroes who lost their lives in their line of duty.

The 11th Hour Last Goodbye

Remains of Victims

UPDATE: July 31, 2011

Is there any conspiracy theory behind the crash? Yes, there are ... but it is not my intention to discuss it here. To this day, what is known as stated in the papers and by the players involved is: a) Judson was a rock-solid Evangelical Christian in a well-known Christian stronghold; b) Judson was at an event with another close friend and popular uprising political star, potentially Chief Minister, fellow cabinet member Adenan Satem the day before he died; c) Adenan's publicly expressed grief at the church funeral was well noted; d) there was much talk about dams being constructed throughout Baram for the benefit of the rural natives but till today, there is little progress and last but not least, e) one of Judson's best medical partners in a private medical centre joint venture, popular Dr Chin in Miri also met an untimely demise a few years after his death.

UNSOLVED MYSTERY 6: Who are disturbing our dead at night???

Something fishy and even scary is going on at night in Sarawak while everyone is fast asleep in bed... Numerous places of the dead have been disturbed and tombs have been broken into and graves have been disturbed for a number of years now.

The disturbances have occurred in both animist and Christian cemeteries. Personally, I was relieved that my dad's grave in a cemetery close to our city was not disturbed recently but it was sad and upsetting to see over 20 graves nearby were desecrated.

To date, no one has been caught for all the disturbances.

The painful psychological effects on affected family members who either see their loved ones in various stages of decomposition or their resting places desecrated have been horrendous, as expected.

This begs 3 out of many other big questions:
a) Why couldn't offers of rewards be made by NGOs or the government to entice folks
with information on these hanky panky going-ons to offer tips to the cops???
b) With its reputation in jungle warfare, couldn't the army or its commandos be
called upon to attempt some form of night surveillance, and eventually catch
these evil-doers, bloody scourge of the earth once and for all??
? With some of the latest gadgets that modern armies have, launching operations would have a high success rate. I've personally tried on the night goggles in Canada and they worked superbly!
c) Why are animist and Christian resting places targeted by these despicable scums?

In this sensational hair-raising report by the Sarawak Tribune dated 2/5/2003, there is evidence that witchcraft may be involved as some jewelries were left untouched by the raiders. The neighboring country would be Indonesia as it has the worst reputation for sorcery.

Best Written Short Story!

One of the joys of sharing my blog with you is the feedback and responses I get. It's great when readers send me new stuff at times to include them here to share with everyone. My thanks to Ijau for this story!

Ijau is used as a pseudonym for a sweet lady whose wealth is unimaginable in Sarawak... she doesn't blog but goes for all the humorous stuff- from religious to naughty - on the net. Some of the stuff is not suitable for this place at this time...

As I do not know who actually composed this brilliant piece, I am unable to make the relevant attribution. I promise I will do so if there is rightful proof of its authorship.

In the meantime, have a good laugh!!!
