Poor Soul!

Dear Soul ...
For all the good you did helping hundreds ...
You would be stunned to be hit hard by those above you, trapped in an investigation ...
by perhaps former colleagues of yours
When it was said you once had The Force in you ...
and I saw you at your office when you fell ...
How sadly different you looked ...

I was there, in his 4-wheel drive ...
When the conspirator bragged about his successful plan to have taped your conversation with him and later report to the powerful top ...
a sexual harassment case filed by a foreign worker against a local employer ...
and you were said to have given the wrong advice to the victim ...

This man was the prime conspirator to send you packing ...
A man of your race with a burning desire for revenge
For all the contempt, scorn and lack of attention he claimed you had for him and his workers time after time ...
in his business dealings ... and I--
I believed him at that time and the truth was soon revealed many times that he was himself a lying rogue ...
A strong man of grey hair and wrinkles who cheated those who were fooled by his charms and frequent self-declarations of absolute high business ethics ...
Please forgive me for not speaking out, dear heart, but who was I ...
but a passerby in a beautiful land of snow-capped mountains, animals and abundant fruit who has learnt the bitter painful lesson of ever speaking out on social injustice anywhere and suffered much with shattered dreams ...

Courage for All

Invictus

-William Ernest Henley

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
